The Magic of Stones

Whether your a crystal believer or not, there is one thing we can all agree on. They sure are pretty! Our jewellery regularly features various semi-precious stones such as agate, jasper, lapis and rose quartz, so we have put together a little guide about the stones, their colours and their healing properties.

Agate Stone: We love agate and use it quite frequently because it comes in a wide array of colours and types. Agates are often striped or speckled and typically somewhat translucent. It is believed that Agate balances the mind, body, and spirit as well as helping you to slow down and centre yourself. It transforms negative energy into positive energy.

Aventurine: Aventurine is a type of quartz and most commonly green, but it may also be orange, brown, yellow, blue, or grey. Aventurine is a stone of prosperity and good luck.

Amethyst: Amethyst is one of several varieties of quartz and varies in colour from light pinkish-lavender to a deep dark purple depending on its iron content. Wearing amethyst is believed to calm the mind, balance emotions and give courage to the wearer.

Crystal Quartz: Crystal quartz, sometimes called rock crystal is a colourless quartz. We mostly use it cut into beads, as it catches the light beautifully. Crystal Quartz is often associated with wisdom.

Fluorite: Fluorite is a beautiful stone that comes in a rainbow of colours that range from cloudy-clear all the way to deep purples and greens. It is a rather soft stone with a ranking of 4 on the Mohs hardness scale. Some believe that wearing fluorite absorbs and neutralises negative energy.

Jasper: Jasper stone is a variety of chalcedony and comes in a wide variety of hues and patterns, from yellowy green Lemon Jasper to black spotted Dalmatian Jasper. It is often associated with courage and quick thinking.

Onyx: People are most familiar with black Onyx though it actually comes in various different colours and can be, brown, red, blue or grey. Onyx is characterised by its parallel bands of colour that run through the stone giving it its beautiful patterns. Onyx is believed to give strength to the wearer.
